This was an âinstantâ group, formed by Harlan Mark Vale (aka Kramtones) & Dick Metcalf (aka Rotcod Zzaj in the early-â90â²s. We did this one between Korea & OlyWa in (only) a matter of weeks. Mark Kissinger (super electric guitarist from Pennsylvania) & Rotcod Zzaj join together in a Y2K reprise that will KNOCK yer' sockzoff! A very beautiful and "gypsylike" musical experience, totally accessible & with music for all tastes! This album features Zzaj vocals (a fairly rare occasions) on 2 tracks, "Rhythm Rider" & "Speak EZ", both from poems he wrote many years ago, then turned to music. I have removed these files from my archive; they are now...

Sonic Nuggets is the first album by Jim Konen (guitars) and Dick Metcalf (aka Rotcod Zzaj, who played Kurzweill PC 88 on this CD). Konen is famous in his local zone (Detroit/Motown) for some masterful techno guitar playing that he performs as "VisionEar". Metcalf has been recording and performing around the country (& the world) since about 1975. This CD also includes some Olympia performances between Dick Metcalf, drummer Jim Russell and guitarist Peter Tomshany - wild and crazy...

My pals from "Broca's Area" (John Sosnowski and Mike Delaney) joined me on this organ-centric effort, & I believe there were contributions from Harlan Mark Vale, too. Any way you slice it, this is somewhere betwixt jazz & rock, with a very high energy quotient. It was a genuine blast to play with these highly talented musicians! This is pure solo Zzaj... many of the tracks you'll hear on this CD are compositions that were made for collaborations, so if it sounds familiar, it may be because you've heard the tunes on other albums. High-end antics from an Olympia, Washington jazz jam group featuring keyboards by John Alkins and Dick Metcalf (aka Rotcod Zzaj) and drums by Harlan Mark Vale (Mark also played some keyboards). This performance was in an out-of-town studio loft called "The Farm". Some spoken-word, but mostly instrumental jazz jams that will float you far away into the ether If you'd like to look at some of our other musical efforts, please visit our magazine, at Improvijazzation Nation All of our...

I was on a cruise through Olympia on my way back to Korea after a whirlwind tour of the U.S. while on a two-week vacation with my wife. We set things up so my old playing pals Harlan Mark Vale, John Alkins & a whole host of others from the local Olympia scene would be available for jamminâ down & out. This is one of the gutsiest jazz jam sessions youâll ever hear. Much fun for all (including you, the listener, of course)! If you'd like to look at some of our other musical efforts,...

I invited PA-based guitarist Mark Kissinger in on this ride, along with multi-instrumentalist improvisor Ernesto Diaz-Infante... we came up with some sounds that are quite unique, at least according to many reviewers

Ernesto Diaz-Infante is one of the most interesting improvisors (alive) in the world today. Rotcod Zzaj met him (via the net) in 1996 or so... After exchanging various CD's and tapes, it was clear that they "spoke" the same musical language... this CD is the first in a series of about 16 that they have performed on together If you'd like to look at some of our other musical efforts, please visit our magazine, at Improvijazzation Nation All of our music is free to download, but we'd be...

Some wild & crazy improvisations from Ken Fletcher (Oregon at the time this was recorded) and Dick Metcalf (aka Rotcod Zzaj, currently in Korea, but in Olympia, Washington when this project was realized). Davey Williams, Wally Shoup, & LaDonna Smith invited Zzaj to visit/play with them in a seedy lil' punk joint named "The Cavern". This CD is the result!
